Just a tip, Ironmates/Sherpas really like getting a small thank you card on race morning. They've been through as much or more than we have getting here...

Hey all,

All checked in and sorting the bags out now.

Just to clarify, we have access to our bikes on Saturday morning. Does this mean that I can bring extra gear / food / drinks on Saturday morning? I'd prefer to have cold drinks and not melted bars on the bike / run.

I was told we would have access to the bikes but not the bags. So... I guess u can elec tape the bars to ur bike.

. I'm not at the dinner but I've always had access to my bags the morning of the race. 6 IMs including this one last year, even the crazy IM New York City with all the ferries. I'm pretty sure you'll have access. Just read the final sheet they handed out and it says you will have access. Good luck.

Hi BTexans! I am going to ride tomorrow morning but want to get a little outside of the Woodlands (preferrably still on the course) to avoid traffic, etc. Was thinking of driving up to the area around Mile 15 of the course near the golf course. Would this be a good place to go? Was trying to stay within like a 10 mi radius or so of the Woodlands. Thanks!

I think you mean the Woodforest Gold Club on Fish Creek Throughfare. This would be an excellent spot to start from, depending on how long you'd like to ride. You should be able to park there, especially mid-week. Turn right and ride down Fish Creek to the overpass, then head West on FM 2854. It should be fairly low traffic during the day and shoulders are pretty good.

Thank you! That's where I parked and rode and it worked out perfectly! Definitely felt the tailwind going up and headwind coming back south!

To those who went to the dinner: did they share any info that we may need to know? Anything new.

Nothing that isn't common sense or already posted. Standard drafting, littering, passing rules. Buoys on the left, wetsuits start 10 minutes later. DQ if anyone runs with you (which is stupid IMO). Missed a good meal and some cool videos though!

Nope.  Other than a way over the top lady from The Woodlands teaching everyone how to say Yeehaw.  #ThisIsWhyWeAreStereotyped

There are now floating rest stops along the swim. Blue and black checkered rafts or something.

The final paper they handed out says you will have access to your bike, but it says nothing about gear bags.  I stayed after the meeting and asked about bags.  I was told once you drop your gear bags, that's it.  Not sure what I'm going to do about my run nutrition now.  :-(

I've done a few IM's, including IMTX, and I always had access to my gear bags in the morning.  They're literally right next to where all the bikes are in transition so it shouldn't be a problem.

Hey people with myathletelive what's your name and bib number. We should do a collective photo op and take pics of the people we can track and then I'll create an Imgur or Flickr site and we can just dump all our photos there and this way we have lots of pics. If you're in reply and add your name and bib number to the list below.

Are we supposed to park at the swim start, or at the finish line?

I'm here by myself so it makes a difference to me. Is there a shuttle that goes from the finish to the swim start so i can pick up my car? I don't see anything in the documentation about this.

Hey there - It would probably be best for you to park at the Finish/Transition area. You can check on your bike/bags in the morning then walk over to the swim start. Then when the race finishes you will be near your car.. Hope that helps. Good luck everyone!

Did I read the schedule for tomorrow morning correcty? Transition doesnt open till 5:30am but you can drop special needs bags off at 5am at swim start? Seems backwards to me ...

Park in the garage near the mall. If it's like last year they'll be open early and it's $5 for the day. Everyone walks from that area to transition to the swim start. Mall parking is sketchy as they threaten to tow.

Don't sweat the special needs bag thing. They'll be collecting them until the swim is set to start.

I was actually more concerned 2with the timing of 2800 athletes, and really only about 1:10 minutes between transition opening and people being funneled into the water. Seems like a tight schedule to me and I want to say that transition opened at 5am last year.
