Who's in for the 2012 Ironman Miami HIM?  I'm doing the Augusta HIM on September 30th before heading to south Florida for more heat and humidity.  Is there anything I should know before I get there?  I suspect that any pre-race training rides on the bike course are out of the question.

What are the chances that the swim will be wetsuit legal?

Im doing Augusta and Miami also. I have not done Miami before but Im pretty sure it is a wetsuit race. I think riding that course would be tough before. Get ready for some bridges on the run.

Excited to return to my hometown and participate in this race. This will be my first Tri of any distance in over 2 years, kids and Master's degrees side-tracked me... I'm not in great shape, but it will be great to get back doing a sport I love.Best of luck to all who will race. Safe training and safe travels.

Does anyone know the specifics of the bike course?  It's obviously an out and back course but what's the road like?  Augusta was good but pretty bumpy at times but only a few potholes.  I'd like to hear that in Miami the road was just repaved and it's as smooth as silk.  Any gutter grates are level with the road surface would be good too.

According to the discussion on the IM Miami FB page, the race organizers have patched some noticeable potholes, and will provide a better "cover / carpet" over several sets of rail road tracks that apparently wiped some riders out last year.

Be prepared for knucklehead drivers who will not respect the riders, or the cops directing traffic.

Does anyone know the flavor of Ironman Perform on the bike / run?

Typically for the Half IM's I've completed, the bike will have for example orange gatorade, and lemon-lime for the run.  I am just trying to nail down my nutrition.

Any insight would be appreciated.  I couldn't find this on the races' FB page.

@ Scott - Last year's race was not wetsuit legal by 1 degree.  Water-temps average between 72 - 76 F.

All above was from the IM Miami chat on Facebook.

Has anyone seen bib numbers released yet? I don't see them in the athlete guide or anywhere else, for that matter.
