Pre-race routine:

Stand in line to register while sweat pours down my face !! HHH !!!
Event warmup:

bare-foot jog down to the water.
two 150 yd easy warm-up swims.

Comments:

Something went awry with my timing chip. I think i got marked as the 3rd wave instead of the second. My time was fast by about 5 minutes, and it looks like it all came off of my swim time (they had me at an incredibly fast 5:06 - 2nd on the swim, the other time was bogus'r even - 3:23).

So i'm doing my best to estimate the places.

The swim itself - friggin' cluster for the first 100 yds. Just had to lay back until i got to the bouy and then passed about 20 or 30 swimmers.
What would you do differently?:

Not get stuck so far in the back. It's a tough call though, it's such a tight start - getting slammed around in the middle is not picnic. This was almost a better tactic. It was a much nicer race - didn't get whacked so much. I did get to see how many people really have no idea how to swim (breast strokers, side strokers, back strokers, switch strokers)
Transition 1
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

Forgot to take my bike gloves out of my bag, so had to run around the bike rack and go thru my bag to get them. Other than that, not so bad.
What would you do differently?:

Obvious

Comments:

I think this was probably my best bike section ever. Pretty strong all the way thru. Good start, low gear and eased up the hill, then got going.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Transition 2
  • 02m 14s
Comments:

This got clocked as a really long transition. I don't really remember it being this long. It was timed longer than T1 where i had to go to the bag to get my gloves.
What would you do differently?:

Whatever it was that slowed me down, i don't remember at all.

Comments:

A pretty good run for me. I got started nice and ez up the hill, no walking. Once i got over the hill started to fall into a nice relaxed pace and picked it up from there. Really felt like a good run, good effort but not too hard.
