Here is the thing about term limits... the People of The United States already have them! Yet election after election after election they overwhelmingly choose not to use them. Yet after every election... the ratings of Congress go lower, and all the people complain about term limits... how is that possible?

Is that you Senator McCain???

?

He used to be in-favor of term limits, but said the same thing to a reporter asking about term limits in 2010.

Got it. I really don't know what to think. I do think government is pretty complicated. You don't want some idiot in there taking 4 years just to get up to speed and then leave. I don't really think we need "short term" limits... but ya, life long... no. 10ish years?  30 is just ridiculous.... yet year after year the same guys get in. And I don't buy the argument that the parties have all the power over us.... does not matter to the party if all you are doing is voting party. They don't care who is in there as long as it is a party member. But just changing the person in the seat, and continuing to play the party games, changes nothing.

Don't you think that is part of the problem though? Why is the entire governmental process so complicated? Shouldn't it not be important that senator joe schmo doesn't know procedural rule 45G6J767L? If you make the system not as complicated there's an easy fix. 2 term limits, half the states vote in every election so you always have some incumbents that know the rules.

Easy to say, I have no idea of the validity of your statement. All I'm saying is that it is not a citizen's government. There is a lot of very complicated issues these day, not procedures. I don't know what that magic number should be.... but what I do know is the majority of Americans support term limits, yet the majority of them do not actually do what they believe, or we would not have this problem.
