Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5:30. Cup of coffee and oatmeal. Left at 6:00. Parked, set up transition and then waited. Had some Nuun and a Clif Bar.
Event warmup:

Made circles with arms.
  • 23m 50s
  • 875 yards
  • 02m 43s / 100 yards

Swam an extra 60 yards because I kept zig-zagging. Going in wrong direction a lot. Really need more swim practice and time.
What would you do differently?:

Sight better. Practice more.
Transition 1
  • 02m 4s

Very pleased with this transition. I had practiced clipping shoes into the bike in advance. I'm blessed that my feet are small and my clearance from ground is large. Didn't need rubber bands. Worked pretty well.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, good transition for me, finally!
  • 41m 58s
  • 11.2 miles
  • 16.01 mile/hr

Good bike leg for me. Would really like to get faster. I had ridden this course several times, so knew what to expect.
What would you do differently?:

Keep training, more intervals and more hill practice.
Transition 2
  • 02m 27s

Again, pretty good transition for me. Practice paid off.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Just keep practicing.
  • 30m 19s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 45s  min/mile

Pretty good run for me. Some mud from rain the night before. Ran most of it. Was thankful not to have any cramping this time. Poured water on my core at every water stop.
What would you do differently?:

Keep training.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Missed getting food. Had a Magner's pear cider.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Age and training.

Event comments:

High Five is the best!

Good race Jackie, congratulations!

Pear cider... sounds good, will have to ask about it at our local bottle shop. Thanks for the heads up.
