Falcon,

Glory Hound web site says this is going to be wet suit legal.  i am thinking that because of the really warm summer that it will not be legal.  As I dont own a wetsuit, I would have to rent one for $60ish.  Do you think I should just not rent one or is it worth the $$.  I am a solid MOP guy so illusions of winning.

The water was 73 last year and has been wetsuit legal every year.  It is creek feed from the 5000-6000ft mountains...in fact where the creek meets the lake (at the finish) the water is probably 65-68 degrees (but only for a minute or two).  I believe someone posted the water temp yesterday at 74 degrees so it will be wetsuit legal again.

$60 is a lot for a rental.  $35 yes, $60 no.  Can;t you rent one at inside out for $35-40?  73 is "cool" but not cold.  Nothing you need a wetsuit for. Is 2-3 minutes quicker swim going to make or break your day?  If not, skip it.

I did. Boy the water felt great!  The gunk in the water at the bridge was nasty wasn't it?  How did you do?

Glad you got one as it would have been chilly without! The stuff at the bridge was all from the heavy storms that passed in through the previous day/night. It wasn't like that last year

Race went great for me, finially cracked AG awards (3rd) as I have been so close on a bunch of my last races.  Had a perfect day for racing as I don't do particularly well in hot/humid weather.  I only have one speed and am not good at compensating for thee heat.  The 67 degrees and drizzle....purrrrrfect for me.

Glad you enjoyed the race...especially since I am like their biggest supporter here when people ask about Olys in NC to do.  It is easily my favorite race.
