Any race done in PTC is top notch and incredibly professional. For 1000+ participants, you would never know based on how well organized they are. Granted, the course and transition can be a tad crowded at times, but the time trial swim start lets you avoid it for the most part if you start early.

I might race, I did last year for a fun time.

This is on Aug 18, correct?  If so, I'll be doing this one.  Looking forward to a point to point swim.  I don't like buoys.

A coworker is thinking about it, but I'm already signed up for the Vinings Downhill 5K with my daughter.  We live in Vinings, so we jog over to the start.  A few other coworkers are running it too.

Looks like a good Sprint and gets great reviews.  Maybe next year.

I'll be there!  I'll be the fat guy in the BOP walking most of the 5K and having a blast.

What is the course like?  The maps provided on the website don't provide a lot of info on hills / swim / etc.

Flat and fast.

Swim: TT start, fast exit to T1.

T1: Large transition area with a lot of people, so it can get confusing. Make sure you know where your bike is prior to the race so you dont get lost

Bike: A couple of tiny rolling hills, but you should be fine. Its fast.

Run: on golf cart trails around the lake, so its pretty flat too.

Thanks.  And am I reading the map correctly that the swim is point to point?

No the swim is a triangle with ~150 m legs, it's an out around and back to shore. The exit from T1 is about 50yds down shore from where you get in.

I might be out there this weekend as well, haven't raced or done much of anything since June so it should be interesting.

Good luck to everyone racing tomorrow.  I'll be there -- it won't be pretty -- but I'll be there!  Been nursing a leg injury for the last couple weeks, so tomorrow will be putting it to the test.  I'm not very optimistic, but I'm going to have a blast anyway.  Can't wait to smell the BACON I have heard so much about in the race reports!!!

What a disappointment today.  NO BACON!  I had the wrong race in mind.  My next race is Tugaloo -- that's the one with all the Bacon.  My day is no longer complete.  But, on the plus side, the Peachtree City Sprint was a fun race today.  It's the biggest race I've done, so the Transition area looked pretty intimidating at first, but it was a well put together race with plenty of volunteers around to help out.  It was also the first time I've done a Time Trial start -- man do I prefer that over the wave start!  So nice to not be getting clobbered right out of the gate.  And, you can set your own pace right out of the gate -- not just a mad sprint for 150 yards to clear the pack and then try to settle in and get your heartrate down.  Anyway, time to write my race review -- hope everyone else had a great time today!

Good race day today.  Overcast conditions kept the temperature down.  Had a good time and a good race.

Um, holy crap those kids are fast!!

A 14-year old took 2nd overall.  I have a feeling his parents won't have to pay a dime for college.

Had a great time at the race today! Was well worth the 5 hour drive to race with some friends. This was the largest sprint I have ever raced, and it did not disappoint. Was very well organized. Because of the sheer number of competitors I was shocked when I won my age group.

Congrats Jillian!!! Way to take home some PTC Hardwear!!
You looked strong when I saw you on the run and you had a good strong push to the finish. Way to Bring it!
Another Steller event by PTC, have been doing this event since 2005, always first class. Have missed not racing it last two year, (IMLOU last yr, Vets tri last week) but maybe a return in 2013??

Yeah, there were a lot of young kids -- FAST kids -- there today.  I'm sure there are those more "in the know", but from what I saw in terms of banners, etc. it was on the circuit for the youth National Development Team or something.  14 year old took 2nd overall, and a 17 year old took 3rd.  Both sub-1hr.

Thanks Cube! I was great seeing you there! When you yelled at me "stop looking at your watch, there is a clock at the finish line!" it made me smile (because it was true) and really gave me that final push I needed, thanks for that. This is a race worth returning to, so impressed by PTC

You are correct.  The SE Junior Elite Team was there.  They are currently ranked #2 in the Nation for youth development.  It's intended to be a Talent ID series (aka potential Olympians can be nurtured).  The super fast ones were up in Burlington.  :P

Great group of kids.  I have had the honor and pleasure of helping with the team for the last 2 seasons.  Kathleen Johnston (out of Nashville) is the head coach and does an AMAZING job.

If that's the "B" Team -- that's pretty darn scary!  Those kids were haulin'!  I bet it's amazing to see the potential they have.  Just plain awesome.
