Subject: RE: Lame Duck TRY-Athlon Home Page Sorry for the late answer - I just spotted your question. The Lame Duck takes place in the Mallard Point subdivision north of Georgetown. Don't let the relatively short distances fool you - the course is very hilly - probably the reason for all the DNF's. The swim is a point-to-point in the lake. It is wide enough for a pretty un-crowded deep water start. It was my first OWS, so I really can't compare, but other swimmers were commenting on how nice the water was. I enjoyed the swim. The bike and run are on the subdivision streets. There are lots of steep hills, so it is a much more challenging course than you might imagine from the distance. It's fun though. The race is hosted by the neighborhood association in support of a charity for single mothers. The after party was one of the best I've seen for a sprint - a big barbecue across from the transition area. There were lots of volunteers who were super friendly and helpful. I am definitely doing this race again next year. |
