Pre-race routine:

Stayed overnight right up the road. Biked to Lake Goss. Made huge mistake as I brought my run gear to T1. Did not read that that had to be set up prior to coming to T1. Fortunately, called wife and she came and took my run stuff to T2. But, gave her my socks which I usually use for bike.
Event warmup:

Got in the water after the initial issue and it was nice and comfortable.
Swim
  • 17m 39s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

Shook off jitters and had an enjoyable swim. It was a warm day and the water was very nice.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Well except reading pre-race instructions that I had to leave run gear at T2
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

A unique setup as our gear was setup away from bikes due to spacing issue. Also, had to put all of belongings in bag for it to be transported to T2.
What would you do differently?:

Situate stuff better.
Bike
  • 1h 14m 16s
  • 19.5 miles
  • 15.75 mile/hr
Comments:

Its a 2 lap course with the second lap going into Langley and heading to T2. There was an intersection where I had to guess which way to go as it was not manned.
What would you do differently?:

More Hills
Transition 2
  • 01m 56s
Comments:

No racks. Run gear area on fence. By this time it was HOT
Run
  • 34m 16s
  • 3.8 miles
  • 09m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

It was a warm day and not enough water. I started to cramp but fought it off for a fairly good run.
Post race
Warm down:

Met the family. Did some stretching although it was near the 80s by the time the race was over. Headed out to grab some grub.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bike performance yet again.

Event comments:

A hidden gem. The lake swim was real nice and a deceptively challenging bike course. Everyone should make a weekend out of it and go to Whidbey.
