Did a sprint this weekend actually 3rd of a 4 race series. The course has multiple twist and turns on the run. Im running with a pack of guys and find we missed a turn. Other guys from the wave ahead of us are heading back asking where to go. We come to a sign that says runner turn around but are told not to turn. Next we find the 2 mile sign while we are not much over a mile. Hit the next turn around and head back. as we near the finishline we see well marked turn with people going up, We ask was that there how did we miss it. Volunteers tell us they just set it up. We ask what to do and are told to continue to the finish they will work it out. We ran 2.4 miles. I went right to race headquaters to tell them what happened and ask if we were DQd or what. Turns out some of the field did the proprer course some of us ran short others ran long.RD said they messed up and moved cones that should not have moved. After hours of standing around some peoples times were adjusted, others like mine were later listed as unoffical finisher. I asked if only thoses of us that were honest got DQd. I was told they figured out everyone that was off and there would be a race credit. Looking at the results I was the only one from my wave that finished in my time that was unoffical yet over a dozen of us crossed together once we knew we were off course. I have not heard anything from RD since and have sent a message. Not sure how I should feel about this, I did go off course and should have known the course better. Heat of the race was going with the flow. The RD did say they would make it right for us but now Im not hearing anything. If it was a local race id be less upset but I travel 2 1/2 hrs and stay the weekend because we like the town so we do multiple races with this company a year. So what do the rest of you think should I just get over it and move on or should I be upset and continue and try to get an answer from the RD?

Move on, file away in the "things I have no control over".  I think nearly everyone has probably been there.

Did you lose your "pro" status?

Yeah, I know......but still.......in the grand scheme of things, it's not important.

Race another day.

No matter how bad your day is, someone's day was worse.

this!

clearly they organized 2 successful races that you decided to come back for a third.  just check with the RD/run course captain before you start number 4 that they have the course marked out!
