Subject: Boston Help

on my way to Maine Thursday and have decided to go to Fenway Wednesay night with my two sons while the wife and daughter hang around town. So I'm looking for some hotel or neighborhood suggestions that may be a little out of the way, but still "in town"  that might save me a few bucks. Maybe somewhere near the T so I don't spend $50 cabs just to save $30 for the hotel .  Might not be fea$ible but figure I'd ask any locals for ideas.    We plan on doing some touristy things, Old North Church, Fanuiel Hall,  some of the Freedom trail and if anyone has other suggestions, feel free. My nephew is up at MIT so I plan to do that and visit Harvard on the way out of town.

If you want something close to the city, try Days Inn on Soldier's Field Road.   It's right on the Charles River, where you can stroll / jog around.  There is no immediate subway near by, but you can check MBTA.com for buses and connecting T schedules.  The green line will take you from Fenway / Kenmore to downtown to Government Center (Fanuiel Hall). 

if you want something nicer but a bit further away, Marriot in Newton.  It's right off I95.  You can park your car at the Riverside or Waban T-station (the D-branch of the Green line) and go to town from there.

I booked the Days Inn on Soldier's Field Road to make sure I have something (not bad- $179 plus tax) but will continue to look around till the 4pm cancellation cutoff.   I'll check Hotwire as well...thanks

For the record, the Chinese restaurant at Days Inn's lobby is a hidden gem - I am Chinese and I usually don't care much for Chinese food in the Boston area / Chinatown.
