The two series that run every season are Gatorade run by Supersprint

http://www.supersprint.com.au/events/supersprint-event-calendar-201213.aspx

and XOSize run by Start to Finish

http://www.triseries.com.au/

Gatorade is a little more competitive, XOSize a more fun environment and definitely geared up for beginners.

There are other races but these two series should keep you going!

Hope to see you out there!  I'm the slow one at the back

If you need any OWS training, then from December Half Moon Bay at Black Rock - Wednesday nights 6.30pm.  Check out the website of John Van Wisse for details.

Most of those races are sprints it seems until later in the season. Any Oly's or HIM nearby?

There is the Olympic at Sandringham but it is later I recall - takes a while for the bay to warm up sufficiently!  Shepparton has a HIM in November but it's sold out really early.  Geelong Oly isn't until Feb.  I don't know more about regional races though - there is one at Bendigo not sure when and one at Hazelwood not sure when either.

Check out eventlist.com.au or the calendar on the tri vic website

I prefer to travel out of the city a bit to do the smaller races with a better feel than the main ones along beach road which pack way too many competitors onto the bike course at a time.  Check out the Bass Coast tri series for some great races, only a bit over an hour from the Eastern suburbs, you cover your fuel costs with cheaper entry fees and get courses that won't have you being wheel sucked every 10 metres.

30 Dec at Cape Paterson is nearly an Oly, 1.2, 40, 9.6 distance

Geelong has a long course race 10 Feb.

There is another one called Triman, been some issues over the last few years and I would advise to not go an early bird entry if doing this and wait to see if it runs (Refunds took a while to get processed last year).  (Listen out for any info on it at transitions or the like if planning on doing it, I'm the first to support independent races, but saw alot of people get burnt with this one)

The Murray Man is another long course just across the border in SA which is pretty good

Yarrawonga has the Vic Oly Champs on 21 Oct as well as a few other ones out in the Gippsland region including one on Nov 11.

I entered Yarrawonga Olympic distance on 21st October as I was looking for early season races before my first attempt at Ironman (Busselton in December). Only just worked out it's about 4.5 hours drive from Torquay!  Hopefully it will be a good event.
