probably the worst bike ride I have ever been on due to road conditions. i had a shooting pain on every pedal stroke for last 40 miles. I ended up coasting every downhill just to get a break.
What would you do differently?:

carbon seat post to limit road vibration?

Comments:

1st lap was good. I knew 2nd lap would be slower as I would have to walk more to try to stay cool.
What would you do differently?:

As an early season race, I had not acclimatized to the heat yet. More hill training.
Post race
Warm down:

walk for a while and then jump in lake to cool down.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

very umcomfortable on bike.

Event comments:

besides the bad road conditions, it was a great race. 1st 70.3 and I took 3rd in my age group.

I have done the small texan and it is Olympic distance.  The bike part whooped me.  I can not imagine doing 56 miles on the very hilly, rough, tough, hot road.

Congratulations and if you can do this bear of an HIM you can do any.(period)
