Overall Rank = 161/338
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 29/44
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:25. Had a rice pudding and some honeystinger waffles for breakfast. Left the hotel, set up the transition area, picked up timing chip, then went to find a restroom.
Event warmup:

I swam about 200yds, then just stayed in the water until my wave started.
Swim
  • 50m 35s
  • 2420 yards
  • 02m 05s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

I need to swim a little harder, I didn't feel like I put any real effort into the swim.
Transition 1
  • 02m 50s
What would you do differently?:

Next time I'll dry off my legs before I put on my socks.
Bike
  • 2h 52m 56s
  • 56 miles
  • 19.43 mile/hr
Comments:

I was passed by only a few people, but that could have been because I was such a slow swimmer. The course was so flat, I think most people over did it on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

I ran very well, so maybe I could have gone a little faster on the bike and ran at the same pace.
Transition 2
  • 01m 36s
What would you do differently?:

I forgot to take off my gloves.
Run
  • 2h 15m 41s
  • 13.56 miles
  • 10m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

My run was great. Last year I completly fell apart in the heat. This year I did a much better job keeping cool. I ran the whole race and was able to build speed throughout. My last 3 miles were my fastest.
What would you do differently?:

Start picking it up a little sooner, I just didn't know if I would make it.
Post race
Warm down:

Sat with my family and waited for others to come in. I drank a recovery drink.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My swim. I had no problem with the distance, just no confidence to work hard during the swim. I still have no sence of pacing during the swim.

Event comments:

The buoys weren't even in the water when the race was supposed to start. Only 2 volunteers at the Bike aid station, I stopped just to make sure I got what I needed. No gels at the bike aid station. The run was very well supported.

Course: I swam a pretty good course. I stayed to the back at the start, but I was in the middle of all the waves and the course was 2 loops, so by the time I was swimming there were already swimmers coming from behind me. I just took it easy, probably too easy, I probably left 3-4 minutes out there.
