Comments:

I started as #26. Bonnie started as #22. The first 6 or so miles was great. There was a nice strong tailwind. I saw 32 MPH a few times. I got passed for the first time at 12 min by 3 other riders and I was going 28 mph when they whizzed past me!! I passed Bonnie at 16 min. I stayed with this small group for a while. We made a right turn and there was now a good, strong side wind. I checked my computer and my avg was over 25 mph when I made the turn. I was now having a hard time pushing my bike over 21 MPH. I ate a gel and kept on going. The group now had a good gap on me, but I was staying the same distance. When we made our last right turn off FM529, we were directly into the wind!! WOW, this was some brutal headwind!! I was now struggling to go 18-20 mph. I passed a lot of riders on this windy stretch of road. I caught back up to one of the riders that was in the fast group from before. The finish line was cut short due to unexpected road construction. After the finish line, I road for about a mile or 2, then turned around, went back to the finish line and waited for Bonnie. She rolled past not to long after. We made our way back to the High School, got a bit turned around, but found it in due time. As we pulled up , it started to rain very hard, so the run was canceled.

What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I had a great ride.
Post race
Warm down:

We packed the bikes inside the car and left. It was raining too hard to even say goodbye.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Only the wind!

Event comments:

Too bad it rained, we were looking forward to the run.
