Pre-race routine:

Hulk stayed the night for this race. His race time was 8:00 for the full, 9:45 for me for the half. Woke up at 5am to get parking and relax with no need to rush. Dunkin D's for breakfast, with some of a THB bagel before the race. Drank a 32oz Gatorade prior to.
Event warmup:

Nothing really. Wore a trash bag to stay warm, did some strides and light stretching to loosen a bit.

This run felt great, had some left in the tank in the last mile and blew up big time. I was coming in that mile at around a 6:30 and exploded with a stitch that basically stopped me from breathing. Once that hit, in O's park, I basically hobbled to the finish line. It was disappointing as had that stitch not hit me, I would have been sub 1:44, possibly mid to low 1:43 (maybe even sub 1:43).

Mid way the course merged with the marathon course and eventually, I caught up to Hulk. I was behind him for a solid two miles, but with the plan to bound and not push the up hills at all, he would pull away from me as I bridged the gaps. Eventually I got him on a long downhill and we got a solid 2.5 together, pushing and holding our pace. I split away with about 3 left to go with the plan to just crush it. I was passing people, but the crash got me.

Course: The first couple of miles just go up. I thought this would be much faster than it would be, but tons of false flats. Around mile 8 it started to level out and by the time you got to Lake M, the course was flat and fast. The last few miles were downhill, which crushed the quads but you can really let loose. The hills were not overwhelming, but they were constant for a good bit of the course. I'd say this is a harder course than Annapolis, which I did not expect.
