Swim
Comments: I was not happy with no swim. It made me not want to do the race, almost. Swimming is my strength, but they did what was best and canceled it. People would have gotten hurt, or worse, with those conditions. What would you do differently?: Why couldn't we have swam in the pool I parked my car in front of? :-) Transition 1
Bike
Comments: I knew I had to go hard on the bike to compensate for no swim. I felt like I would have ranked a little higher overall but am happy with how I did. I absolutely hate, hate, hate wind so am happy with my mental ability to get over it and move on. What would you do differently?: I came off the bike dehydrated. I needed to drink more. Transition 2
Comments: I am soooooo happy I chose to go sock-less on the bike. It cost me a little time in T2 putting socks on but then I didn't have to run 13.1 miles with squishy feet. Run
Comments: Not my best run, not my worst run. I could have pushed it a little harder. I was hoping for around 8-8:10 min/mile. I started to fall apart at the end, but some guys also doing the race were being so encouraging they really helped me push through. The attitude of all the athletes was great. Everyone encouraging everyone! What would you do differently?: Drink more on the bike to hydrate the run. Post race
Warm down: Coca cola!!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Wind during the bike and humidity during the run Event comments: The think DRC since a good job with the conditions they had to work with. I am happy they waited until most of the rain had passed to start the race. The only thing I wished they did differently was the time trial bike start. I was in the very last group to go; I'm not sure why. I wish they would have used the anticipated finish time they asked everyone to provide in order to rank the bike start. It would have been nice to have a better sense of where I stood in placement throughout the race. But, overall, good race!!! Last updated: 2012-07-16 12:00 AM

I live an hour from the race so had everything packed night before and just grabbed my super strong coffee and pnut butter on toast and hit the road. I kinda like a long drive to a race cause it gives me time to warm up and listen to good music to get me energized! Once I got to the race, which I was later than I wanted, there was too much down time. I spent most of it obsessing over keeping my stuff dry. I did not want my running shoes to get wet. I did not plan on rain so did not come prepared and don't like soggy shoes!
Stretched some... wasn't sure how to warm up for a time trial bike start. Especially since it was raining right before. Met some nice people and did some chatting.
