Comments:

Started near the front and immediately feel into a quick but comfortable pace. In mile three, at the first waterstop, I inhaled some water and spent a good 100 yards coughing it out. first 5k split was 22:28. Mile 4 had some hills and the pace reflects that. Three people passed me here that I was able to pass back in miles 7-9. Stopped for 5-10 sec to drink some gatorade in mile 6. 10k split was 45:54 (23:26 for 2'nd 5k). Hit 15k in 1:08:52 (22:58 for third 5k). After the turn at Delta we ran into the wind the last 3-4 miles, and that was a bit tough. The pace dropped by 10 sec in mile 11, and 20 sec in mile 12. The 20k split was 1:32:19 (23:27 forth 5k). Mile 13 was through Friendship Park and I was able to bring the pace back down to 7:18. I was passed by a guy in the last mile, but was able to catch and pass another guy with 1/3 mi to go. I was really hurting the last half mile. I felt a little light-headed again (like at the marathon finish) the last 150 yards. I did recover quickly though. I had 1:37:54 on the garmin, but the official time was 1:37:58. Maybe that's the gun time? Results are tenetive right now, so I'll keep checking back to see if they clarify that. I think I ran this race well and paced well. I was hurting coming in, but I don't fel I really faded, at least not much. I attribute the slight drop in pace in miles 10-12 to the wind.
What would you do differently?:

Drink a little more. I missed the water stop at mile 5 and skipped the ones at mile 1.5 and 12.5.
Post race
Warm down:

1 mile run back to parking garage.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The wind the last four miles.

Event comments:
