Subject: 20 Week HIM plan + 8 week "primer"?

Hi -

I'm strongly considering a HIM in June 2013.  A 20 week plan starting January 1 would align almost perfectly ... but I don't want to wait until January 1 to start training. 

I'm in good shape; currently doing 6 days a week - usually 3xRun, 2xSwim 1xBike, but just making it up as I go along.  Was hoping to get myself more into an official Tri-training groove, so to speak, now and then officially turn the switch on in January.

Anyway, I guess my question is, is there a way to create a "28 week plan"?  Or a short maintanence plan that would give me workouts to build up to a 20-week plan and get me primed to kick it into gear on January 1?

I am assuming you will be using the free beginner HIM plan?  You can take the last 8 weeks of a free sprint or oly plan as a 'maintenance' type of plan to at least give you some structure.  

The silver level offers specific maintenance plans, but if you are fine with the free beginner HIM plan, then use parts of the free sprint/oly plans for the next 8 weeks, you will be fine.

Thank you, Ron! I'm actually totally open to pay for one of the levels if it makes sense --- for now I'll go with your recommendation on the maintanence plan and then assess when I get to the 20 week mark.

 Ron,

 I'm in the same position but want to keep the run numbers down for the first portion of the plan. 

I tried to "change" the number of events in a 28 week gold level custom plan but it (# of events) stays at the default value for each swim bike run... 

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the PM reply Ron,

Got the log figured out and the customization capability in the Gold level is pretty awesome.

I can move things around week to week as needed; PERFECT for my schedule.

 

I do have a question on the bike as I will need to do some of the bike work on a trainer or spin bike. Do/ Can I log them under (actual) bike and not other sport (Spin class) the reports to track progress show a planned vs actual disparity…

 

Also does my “plan” I sent you in the PM make sense for the work up to the 20 week HIM plan?

Any suggestions are welcome…
