Swim
Comments: I felt like my wetsuit was suffocating me. It was a horrible feeling. I did a 50m warm up and felt like, hey, this is going to be easy. And then anxiety, fear, and claustrophobia set in and I nearly quit. It was a horrible feeling... but I completed it. What would you do differently?: EVERYTHING. More drills, more open water swims, more of everything. I SUCK! Transition 1
Comments: T1 was not as bad as I thought. My wetsuit came off quite quickly. I wasted about 10 seconds looking for my sunglasses thinking someone swiped it. It was where I put it but was so frazzled from the swim I was in disarray. I walked slow with wobbly legs to the BIKE OUT area and when I finally got my bike to go I hit my lap time. T1 could improve, but overall I THINK it went okay - from what I remember. What would you do differently?: Do everything faster and 'remember' where i put my sunglasses! Bike
Comments: That was a fun ride despite my fatigue. I had expected to come out of the water in half the time and give the bike portion a run for the money. I was so tired going into the run the hills took their toll. I was totally bummed out. What would you do differently?: Hmmm... have a better swim! Transition 2
Comments: I was very happy with this transition time. Of course I could probably do it in half the time if I ran to my area and had a better location. I was at the end and running with my bike was not easy. What would you do differently?: Practice running with my bike after a BRick! Run
Comments: I hate trails - that is until I bought some trail shoes AFTER the triathlon and ran one. But I hate that I was slipping on the terrain with my running shoes. It took about a mile before I felt like I could actually run. The last mile or so it felt like I could run a couple more and had a lot for my kick to the finish. I was way off my average mile pace but considering my swim struggles and a tough bike, 10.32 a mile is not THAT bad for me. If it was under 10 I would have felt better about myself. So it was a so-so run for me. What would you do differently?: SWIM BETTER?!? :) Post race
Warm down: RUSHED TO THE BATHROOM!!! What limited your ability to perform faster: The swim struggles took alot of energy. Event comments: I can't wait to do all three next year!!! Last updated: 2006-06-07 12:00 AM
