Subject: Low/high gears and HR monitors
Real basic question - is a "low" gear a hard gear i.d large chain ring and small back cog and a "High" gear an easy/light gear ie. small chain ring and big back cog......have I got that the right way around?

Also I am having a problem with my HR monitor when I am in the aero position, my bike computer seems to interfere with the readings and before I know it I have a 220 HR! Does anyone know of a HR monitor that this doesn't happen to as I'd like to buy one?

Thank!

We generally speak of a higher gear as a harder gear and a lower gear as an easier gear. This is probably fron gear ratios, which is the number of times your cogs turn with every turn of the pedals. Big chainring (53) divided by the little cog (say, 11) equals a gear ratio of ~4.8; little chainring (39) divided by big cog (say, 1.6). Higher gear=higher ratio=harder gear.

Some wireless computers interfere with HRMs, what computer do you have?
