Swim
Comments: It was a allot different to swim in open water compared to a pool. The distance when you are not doing laps seems allot longer. I felt kind of silly starting in the back (Clysdale) division as there were not many adults and lots of kids. What would you do differently?: I really need to get more pool time in and work on speed!! I also need to get more open water time in, it seems as I was running out of breath faster in the lake. Is that all in my head??? Transition 1
Comments: Had a really good transition. Had troble getting into cleat to start out though. What would you do differently?: Pratice leaving shoe attached to peddal and starting that way. Bike
Comments: I kicked ass on the bike and passed tons of folks. I did have an issue with my strap for my shoe. Evidently I didnt seat the velcro all the way and on a stroke it got caught between my chaintring and I wound up throwing the chain. Tried to pedal backwards to get it back on but that was a no go. Got it back on and cranked it up a notch to the point I felt like I was going to hurl. What would you do differently?: 1)make sure my shoe is fastened all the way 2)make sure my bike computer is working and the sensor is close enough to pick up the signal. Transition 2
Comments: I was out of breath big time and not really focused on anything other than getting out and running. What would you do differently?: untie running shoes before the race starts DOH! make sure I have number belt and dont have to saftey pin. Run
Comments: Kept it slow and steady. Had alot of time to think about why I couldnt push it harder and go a bit faster as an 9 year old and 42 year old passed me. I tried to do as I had heard to do once before and focus on someone ahead and laso them (mentaly) and try to reel them in. It sort of worked but I eally need to work on speed/stamina What would you do differently?: Pratice Pratice Pratice Post race
Warm down: fruit and water What limited your ability to perform faster: I will need to evaluate this further and come up with an anwser. I think it would be lack of training. Need to buy a good watch and HRM with a lap button. Event comments: Good race but they should have been better prepared for the post race. Food and beverages ran out leaving alot of folks wanting. Well as I thought due to them loosing me at registration and me dropping the ballot in the wrong box they have me listed as an age group and not Clydesdale. Even with them doing that and me starting 2 minutes behind the guys in my age group I still placed 34 out of 45 guys in my age(35-39). To me not a bad race at all. Last updated: 2006-06-04 12:00 AM
