Saw this in the Iron Distance Forum:

Any thoughts that they made it one loop in preparation for a full Ironman race?

I'm not so sure about a full distance IM in Boulder. Access is limited.

I think the main reason for 1 loop was the fact that so many people complained about how family/friends couldn't make it to Boulder Res after they shut down 51st St. Parking and Access to boulder Res is so limited and making it a 1 loop bike course opens that up a little bit for shuttles to get family/friends to the Res, after parking fills up at the Res.

I'm off work until January 2nd.  Weather is looking a little sketchy this week, but I may try to get up to Boulder and ride the course one day.  I'm pretty darned excited about maybe doing my first half in Boulder.  I'll decide during my course preview ride if I think a half this year is realistic.

Yes!  Dressed right, and rode the course today in about 3:45.  Felt nice and easy.  I'll be signing up tonight.  Pretty stoked.

cool- how snow packed was it? I live right by it and the roads are pretty bad in the neighborhood.

The roads were't in great shape but I was riding slow.  My wife surprised me with lots of cool (make that warm) winter cycling gear for Christmas.  I was amazed at the difference it made.  I wasn't quite sure if she was OK with my idea of training for a 70.3 this year.  Mostly because of the time commitment.  But when I opened my presents on Christmas morning, she said, "If you're going to do a 70.3, you'll need some warm winter gear.  Training starts now."

I just signed up yesterday before the price increase next week.  This will also be my first HIM, I would much rather have one loop than two.
