Subject: cant file under "race report" but...

I am prepping for a late feb marathon and last weekend was a "back down the mileage on the long run" session. It was to be a 13 mi run at a pace that would have been about 3 or 4 minutes slower than my 13.1PR pace from about 2 years ago.

So being the very poor coachee that I am, I decided that the pace was fast enough and the distance was close enough that I was gonna race it and see what I could do.

No support. No Cheering section. Just 6.6mi out and 6.6mi back. (a hair long but I wanted to be sure that I wouldnt run short.) Beat my old 1:45pr and came in with 1:41:42.

I had a gel before I started and one right after the turn around and that was all. 29 degrees and no wind.

It was of course stupid from a training standpoint. BUT I now have a new accomplishment to hold on to. And I hopefully have gotten it out of my system and can run as Rx'd between now and 2/24/2013.

The lack of a website listing my name and the time, a medal and a bib number only lessens it a little bit...

I've always been more of a race to train type of guy myself. Good work.

Good job! That's a healthy training run. =)

I do the same thing. Running if my thing. I usually run what pace feels right to me. I usually end up pushing it...because I like to push it during races, so why not practice it during training?
