Any one else racing RR (any distance) in 3 weeks?

I need a little crew/pacer help for the last 40 miles if anyone is not running and is available to help a fellow BTer out.

thanks!

Dave

This will be my second time at RR for the 50-miler. Maybe some day I'll find enough courage to try the long race!

One more call out to anyone who may be able to help with some crew/pacing this Saturday.  I can manage it, but it'd be nice to have some company for a few miles!  There's some beer in it for ya

UGH. Why, WHY didn't you tell me?!! I never saw this thread before the race. My husband would have done a lap or two easy with you. UGH. I was thinking about it all day Sunday, that it never crossed my mind to ask you. Gggrrrr. He says he's sorry too, we wished we had thought to ask. I'm really kicking myself.

Oh don't worry about it at all! I was able to get another pacer in addition to my wife through the Tejas Trails FB page.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to go the last lap though and had to bow out after 80 miles. My body just said "no more!"

So you can bet I'll be back there next year for revenge

I'm feeling pretty good already though.  Did some good walking the past few days and just had a very light jog around the track for a few laps.  Will spin a bit and see how the legs feel over the next few days.

Overall I had a GREAT time at Rocky, as always.  I love Joe's races.

How did your race go Haley?

Oh, ok. Whew. Ignore my PM then!

It went better than I thought! I finished on just 2 long runs of marathons, no mid-distance runs. Only short & those marathons. Ha. I'm an idiot. Already thinking of the next one!!

It was pretty awesome. I had some major issues as well (digestion), but I pushed through when I could. Still beat my time by 2-3hrs than anticipated!

I ended up having a great day. Everything pretty much went according to plan for me, and I felt really on-track for the whole thing. I slowed down a little as the day progressed, but the wheels never came off. That anxious feeling that the bonk was right around the corner waiting to hit me never left until the very last turn where you can see the finish.

Best part is I'm feeling MUCH better than I did after my first 50M. The first one left me feeling STIFF and SORE for days and days. This time I was sore on Sunday, but was moving pretty good. Rode the bike a bit yesterday. Today I don't really feel any soreness and will probably try a light jog tonight with a few minutes of walking thrown in. I ended up finishing the race a little over an hour faster than last time, which I think was due to a combination of better pacing and being about 10-lbs lighter.

I spent a little time on the computer Saturday night & Sunday morning watching the results from the 100-mile crowd. Dave, when I saw your Lap 4 results on Sunday morning, I figured you were probably having a rough time. Still, 80-miles is nothing to sneeze at!

Tejas Trails is a great organization and they put on a heck of a race. The volunteers are unbelievable and, somehow, Joe even called in a few markers and arranged for perfect weather! Not sure what I'm going to do next year. I've always thought that the 100-mile crowd was made up of some weird sub-species rather than just normal people who don't watch much television or have other hobbies. Now I'm not so sure.  If I can find the stones to sign up for a 100-milers someday, I'm sure it'll be at RR.

Congrats dude!  Glad you are feeling well.  It's weird, my legs actually feel prett good today too.  Much better than after the 100K a few weeks ago, and better than the RR50 last year.  Maybe my legs are just getting used to the punishment I put them through!

Yeah, I used to think the same thing about people who ran ultras.  It's amazing the different type of people who do these races.  I love being around them so much; it's a much different community than tri or cycling, or even road running.

Being at mile 79 and still having every single person pass by you say "good job" is really cool.

You should do the 100 at RR next year.  You know you want to.  Don't think, just run.
