Veteran 206 Canton, GA | Subject: Drop 70lbs in 13 weeks -- NEED HELP! Okay, so I realize this is an ambitious goal for sure, but we have a body fitness challenge starting at work in two weeks and I am determined to win -- not only for the sake of winning, but because I need to finally beat this weight! I'm tired of being a slow Clyde!!! I was a competitive swimmer growing up and still have the competitive athlete mentality but let life get in the way after college. I am sitting at 250 now (5'7) and would like to get down to 180 by the end of this 13 week contest. The contest itself is based on weight lost and lean muscle gained. On a side note, I also have the goal of doing my first HIM this year. I did an OLY last year but had to walk almost the entire way. I want to be able to actually run this one. Lots of goals all wrapped up into this challenge, but I'm hoping to find someone who is equally as competitive to help me achieve my goal. Anyone out there want to take on the challenge of helping guide me through a routine to help me achieve this? My hydrostatic weigh-in is on Feb 14th. Hope someone out there would like to join me in my quest!!! Duane |

Granted your going to lose a lot of muscle but you will probably hit your weight goal. Try medifast- you will at least get your proper nutrition but you are still going to have to lose over 5lbs a week. Good luck from a slow clydesdale. |

Member 78 Jefferson City | Subject: RE: Drop 70lbs in 13 weeks -- NEED HELP! I dont know about guiding you... But I am in a very similar boat as you are.... also in a weight loss challenege at work, also let life get in way during college and ballooned from 185 to 282, and I also want to complete my first tri this year... I am shooting for a sprint in July and hoping if that goes well to compete in something longer a little later in the year. I started my weight loss in december and as of right now I am down to 239. I'd be glad to share goals, ideas, and advice. Hit me up and hopefully we can spur each other on. |

Champion 5117 Brandon, MS | Subject: RE: Drop 70lbs in 13 weeks -- NEED HELP! Eat your fruits and veges, cut back on the beef and cheese. To do something that ambitious you're going to need to change your diet as opposed to going on a diet. I've done a pseudo-vegan-ish thing that has kept up my energy and helped me keep the weight down while I work through some things related to an old knee injury. Plus I've learned how to cook some pretty awesome things. I'm far from a dietician or nutritionist, but I can recommend some cookbooks, websites, and recipes if you'd like. Won't bombard you with all that right off the bat, but let me know.
And I realize that you're probably nearing the end of the challenge.. how'd it go? But I can still give some recommendations. Being healthy never has a stop date. Edited by sesh 2013-05-23 4:36 PM |

Member 1293 Pearland,Tx | Subject: RE: Drop 70lbs in 13 weeks -- NEED HELP! Duane let me tell you the picture you want to accomplish: you want to lose 70# you need to burn 3500 Calories per 1 Pound for 70 # thats 245,000 Calories divide by 13 weeks. 18,846 CALORIES PER WEEK! 2,692 CALORIES PER DAY AN AVE PERSON HAS A GIVEN 1000 CALORIES BURNED EVERYDAY AT REST( depends how you work, this varies number i not accurate , but a good benchmark) So lets be conservative to be accurate so lets keep it at 1000 Calories therefore you have to work the remaining 1,692 CALORIES YOU NEED TO WORK ON YOUR OWN. To give you an idea i just Ran 13 miles the other day to burn 1800 calories. Before that I bike 30 miles to burn 1500 Calories. Of course you cant run 13 miles everyday or bike 30 miles everyday ( unless you commute to work using your bike, which is a very good idea) Therefore this is where diet comes into play and I cant stress enough what "SESH" explained above I agree with him 10,million Times!!!! plus the work out run 5 miles every other day , alternately swim 1 hour or more (i mean laps) or bike for 15 to 20 miles indoor our outdoor. Its Doable just believe you can do it. I believe you can!!! |
