Pre-race routine:

oatmeal with raisins
Event warmup:

stretching, rode bike from parking lot.
Run
  • 17m 36s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 48s  min/mile
Comments:

The guys took off fast. I actually ran too fast to begin the race. I ran a 8:15/mi pace the first mile and slowed it down to about 9:15/mi pace the 2nd mile.
What would you do differently?:

Be more even on the first two miles. But, it was OK the way it went. I don't think I had any adverse affects from going hard early.
Transition 1
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

I did have to walk into T1 to get my heart rate down a bit.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 56m 32s
  • 15 miles
  • 15.92 mile/hr
Comments:

There were times I was down to 13-14 mph into strong gusty wind, then hitting 22-23 mph with it at my back.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Even though I rode the pedals in, I just walked after getting off. I've never run in socks on a wet parking lot surface, but there's a first for everything. I was worn out and my new Adamo saddle left me incredibly sore. I stopped and used the Under Armour shirt that I left by my bike as a towel to clean my socks before putting shoes on. I walked out of T2 and got a cup of water and would have quit if someone gave me $10. But, I sucked it up and kept going.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 21m 45s
  • 2 miles
  • 10m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

I was worn out for the 2nd run. The saddle really hurt my rear/groin area so it took me about 1/4 to 1/2 mile to work the soreness out. I was struggling to keep it going, but managed to grind it out with only a few walking breaks to get my heart rate down.
What would you do differently?:

Be in Better shape!!!
Post race
Warm down:

walked a bit, talked to people.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Conditioning!

Event comments:

The race was well organized and had lots of helpful volunteers. I'll do it again in the future.

Sound cold, but fun. Good job. Have a DU next month. Won't have the wind factor. (Let's hope!)
