Comments: Started fast, but not too fast to clear out of the initial crowd, then settled in at what felt like a comfortably fast pace and just tried to maintain that. What would you do differently?: Since I've been training for my first half marathon I haven't really focused on speed at all the last several months, so I wasn't really sure of what pace I could maintain. I ran a 8:05min/mile 4.26 miles last Saturday in a race so shooting for sub 8min/mile was the goal. Post race
Warm down: walked, stopped and put hands on knees and just breathed deep for a bit. more walking and cheering other runners on to the finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: No speed training. No 5k race pacing practice Event comments: For the first race they've held they did really well. Organization was a little off, and a few people swapped bibs because they hadn't been through "the drill" before. One of the students sang the national anthem which was nice. Overall a fun little race. I hope it gets bigger each year for them. This was also a PR for the 5k distance! Last updated: 2013-03-16 12:00 AM
