Last time I checked, 12 yr olds don't have jobs and don't shop for their own clothes without parents present.

I specifically remember purchasing my own "sexy" panties when I was about that age. I used my own money from babysitting. I wanted something other than the granny panties I owned, I wanted pretty, girly underwear. Probably more so to not be embarrassed/fit in in the girls locker room more than anything.

Not having kids I can't comment on this issue, but being a tween who bought these kinds of undies - a big MEH. I was not a promiscuous tween or teenager, I was quite the opposite. Pretty underwear did not change that for me.

My point was not whether to buy them or not. My point was that I'm not sure many parents (at least one) DON'T know what underwear their kids are wearing. And as a result are probably mostly ok with it. I know what underwear every person in my house wears and don't have any problems with any of it (not on a daily basis, more as general information). I'm also a bit more liberal in that, as long as it's not a special occasion I don't tell my kids what to wear. All 3 of my kids wear 2 different socks EVERYDAY and sometimes two different shoes. My youngest (4) also loves to pair a boot and a crock with shorts and long sleeves. My daughter (10) wears some of the most awful stuff I've ever seen, but hey, that's just how they roll. I don't care about their clothing as long as it's within reason (it has to cover what a "normal" swimsuit would cover). If thong underwear is serving a function (and not as a swimsuit), I'm cool with it.

The parents have A LOT of control over this situation. If the parents don't want their kids wearing it, then don't buy it, and if your kid buys it, get rid of it. If few enough people buy it, then they'll shut the line down for a more profitable one. That was all.

Same here. Bought my own panties, did my own laundry (and everyone elses, it seemed). Laundry was one of my assigned chores.

Yeah, but I REALLY knew how to cook. Which is a worthless skill in Tower B. It did become valuable when I got an apartment in South Oakland.
