Pre-race routine:

Cup of coffee, a banana, and a long drive to Okotoks.
Event warmup:

Splashed around a bit in the water... it was probably wayrm enough to not require a wetsuit.

Comments:

I only did the swim leg as we had friends that wanted to participate... and not many people can swim in our little circle of friends. This swim seemed a lot more crowded than the race a couple weeks ago. I was bumping into tons of people. Lots of people went without wetsuits... one girl did not even have goggles. Crazy!
What would you do differently?:

I need to bi lateral breathe in the OWS... I have such a blind spot and have no idea what is to my right! Left me feeling crowded...

Event comments:

Again, since i was part of a team and it was a sprint, I felt like I was done really fast. I stood around and cheered on the men on their swim, we hung around the transition area. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, although there were some great competitors. My husband had a great run time with his team (not mine)... but their swimmer struggled! The race directors incorrectly posted the swim time for his team as 36 minutes... should have been more like 14... My hubbie wanted to complain since it put their team in last place... but I think he decided to let it go. He only complains to me! Very fun... we were all given a photo of an Ethiopian child that we were racing for... that was the charity. I thought it was a nice touch!

Way to go Julie. Nice pace for someone being bumped around and feeling blind.
