Comments: I started off a few rows back from the front and just decided to see what kind of pace felt good. The first half mile was mostly downhill, so I just rolled with it. I felt pretty good for the first 4-5 miles, but around mile 5 I started to notice the legs hating me. From then until about mile 9 was a slog. I was burping Gatorade that I took at the second water station, in fact, it seemed that I got uncomfortable belches after almost every aid station. Around mile 9 I started to feel better - HR was down and legs felt oddly good, and at mile 11 I thought that I *might* have a shot at my stretch goal of going sub-1:40:00. I faded a bit in mile 13, so I missed that goal, but I still had a PR by more than 10 minutes, so I'm loving it! http://connect.garmin.com/activity/294607823 What would you do differently?: Train better before hand :-) Post race
Warm down: Got my medal, some water and some Gatorade, then walked around a bit and hung out to cheer on Kristen at the finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of consistent, or recent, training. I haven't done anything since my HIM three weeks ago, and I didn't do much running in the two to three weeks just prior to it, either. Event comments: Nice event, beautiful course, proceeds go to a great cause. GREAT volunteer turnout. Tons of aid stations. Last updated: 2013-02-06 12:00 AM

Woke up at oh dark thirty, had some coffee, a banana, a blueberry yogurt. Made sure I had all my stuff together, then headed out the door.
Jogged around briefly for about 3 minutes, then wandered and found a fellow Team RWB runner (Kristen), introduced myself, and chatted for a bit until it was time to line up for the start. It was both of our first events with Team RWB.
