What type of gear will you be wearing since it will be pretty cold out for the bike and run, in the 40's for a high. I ride and run in cold weather but never right after a swim and def not what I would swim in...

I can't decide what to put on after the swim anyone have experience with this?

I'm honestly not sure!

I'll definitely be wearing my tri shorts/top, and I think that I'll wear gloves on the bike.

I don't own a windbreaker and I'm not sure I can find a decent cycling one in time... so I may just kinda freeze on the bike a bit??  I may leave a skull cap in transition to wear under my helmet and on the run.  If the head and hands are warm, I think that maybe the rest can make do.

Last year I did the OU race in Athens and it was roughly these temps.  We had hail during the first few miles of the bike, even.  I had borrowed a windbreaker for that one and also had my bike gloves and that ended up being all I needed.  The toes got a bit cold in the vented bike shoes, but I just kinda sucked it up and dealt with that.  I was prepared to towel off in T1, and I had a knit hat, but I ended up skipping both of those things. I also ditched both the gloves and windbreaker in T2.

FYI - It is going to be COLD.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/ashland-oh/44805/hourly-weather-forecast/335028?hour=49

8:00am temp is looking to be 37 degrees, but it is supposed to feel like 27 degrees.

Even by 10:00am (we should all be finished by then), it won't feel like more than 32 degrees.

I will definitely be wearing my thermal skullcap under my helmet and on the run.

I will have on my bike gloves, and I will be taping over the vents on my shoes.

If I can get to the LBS to find one that fits, I will be buying a windbreaker tonight or tomorrow.

I will also make a point of wearing my aero helmet because the lack of venting should actually be a bonus for warmth.

I will also make sure that I bring warm sweats and stuff to put on after I cross the finish.

Good luck, and have fun!  Maybe we'll run into each other.

A friend & coworker of mine is racing it tomorrow as well. It's his first non-indoor tri.  We're planning to arrive right around 7am when the packet pickup opens so that we can do that and get transition set up... then run inside and get warm!  So, if you see two guys that resemble Laurel & Hardy (I'm the tall one of the two), say Hi  I'll be wearing black Orca kit with a blue strip on the sides, and I've got a tattoo on the back of my left calf.

edit -- oh, yeah.... duh, and my picture is on the left, lol!

I was 7th overall at 1:09:39, 1st in M40-44.

Kelso found me and introduced himself after the race as we were looking at the results, and it turns out he was 8th overall.... I edged him out by :01, 1:09:40, hehe

We're still waiting for full results with splits to be posted to the internet. They only had a simple printout after the race.

The temps on the bike sucked!  It was stupid cold.  It was a fun event, but really small. Bike course had some hills, but nothing really challenging.  Lotta fun downhills  Hopefully this race grows a bit every year.

I had a good time I actually wasn't to bad on the bike and ended up taking my gloves off and unzipping the coat on the run. Guess ill just have to train a little more for the next one getting more experience will help out too that was my second triathlon. I did hocking hills last year hoping for a lot more this year maybe some Olympics later in the season.

Division results and splits for times are posted, but all of the run times are off by 10 minutes and all of the final times are now 10 minutes too low, as well... so, adjust accordingly when looking at them
