Pre-race routine:

Had my last long run on Saturday (15 miles) and decided that I will try a "mini taper" this week. This is the one race that I've been itching to do again! Last year's time was 3:21 and I know I can beat it. I've been training all winter on that hill along with others. I have more mileage and hills on my legs this year. I understand nutrition and hydration better. I know I can finish this race in much better shape than last year. The plan is to pick up my race packet on Friday and chill at home for the rest of the evening. Mike was here to watch me last year, as it was my first half distance race; this year I will have LOTS of friends cheering and running, but no Mike.

I had been helping our oldest son move this week, but had told him that I wasn't doing much on Friday. I was done moving by noon and was home by 8 and in bed by 9. We had Steak n Shake for dinner where I had a chili mac supreme and cheese fries.

Comments:

This course was my first half last year. I finished last and was determined to not let it happen again. I trained all winter long with 2 different groups and some of those training runs were along this same course.. My fitness level was much better this year and I was ready to own this course. My publicly stated goal was to beat my time from last year (3:21) and NOT be last! My secret goal was to finish in 3 hours. As I came upon the 11 mile mark and looked at my watch I knew that I was going to even beat that time!

I have been stating all year that I was going to won this race! I did that!
What would you do differently?:

Maybe run those hills a little more often, other than that--not a thing!

This is the first time that I crushed any goal I have set!  I know that Indy Mini in a couple of weeks will be a good one too!  Thanks for your support.
