Comments: There were roughly 400 of us including walkers, so I started near the front/middle. For the first few hundred yards, I dodged the walkers and got into a rhythm. I knew ahead of time this was a climb out and downhill back in, so I sucked it up and just tried my best. I had my headphones on and I was rewarded with a sub 10 minute first mile. The second mile had a huge incline in it that slowed me down, so that one was 11:10. It was nice to see the turnaround thou as I knew, "here we go" on the downhill run! I kept my steady stride and remembered not to over stride and concentrate on my breathing. Also, I felt good! I looked around and everyone (well most everyone) was smiling and giving us return runners cheers and attaboys! It was very cool being in the front half of the pack. Kinda nice reward for all the training Ive been doing. I guess I missed the third announcement on my Map My Run app as later, it said, 9:27 mile! For me, thats AWESOME! I wish I would have heard it, as I would have definitely kicked it a little harder for the last .2!! What would you do differently?: Run faster?? Im pretty happy with my results and Im looking forward to my FIRST Sprint Tri this coming Saturday. This race was a BIG boost for my morale! ![]() Post race
Warm down: I walked around for a bit, then jumped in my car and went home. My wife and girls were amazed I was home so soon! What limited your ability to perform faster: My beer belly? I would say the long hill out was a big factor, but it made for a Great run in! Event comments: I will be back next year!! Last updated: 2013-04-16 12:00 AM

Woke up and was feeling a little sore from my 30 mile bike ride the day before. Nothing too bad, just noticeable. I did some stretching and then took a shower, put on my running attire. I wasnt hungry at all, so I grabbed a builder bar made a Dream Whey protein shake and headed out.
I got there about 30 mins early and parked right at the finish line. I sat in the car and jammed out to some music and watched everyone gather. Got out and did some more stretching and was actually getting excited about the race.
I figured I would be sore from the day before, but as 9am got closer and more and more people started lining up, the adrenaline started pumping!!
