 Plano, Tx |  Subject: Blackwell Research 100MM Front and Disk Rear Wheel - $I'm selling my Blackwell Research 100mm Front Wheel and the Disk rear wheel. These wheels have literally only been raced on. I'd say the wheelset has less than 300 miles on them! The wheelset uses tubular tires. If you're unfimilar w/ tubular tires you want to be sure you have your local bike shot put the tires on the first time and be sure they show you how. This wheelset is unbelievably fast and is literally more than half off a brand new set of Zipps. I rode the wheels to the Ironman World Championships back in 2008. The wheels were bought in 2007. In the price I'm including a wheel bag, three tires, an extra scewer and the small "crack pipe" for airing up the rear tire. I'm asking $850. This price Includes: -100mm Front Wheel (w/ scewer, tire on it, and inflation extender) If you have any questions about the wheels let me know. Thanks They handle crosswinds pretty well. I've ridden (sp?) them in some wicked crosswinds and I just had a little lean, but they were still fast. The shape appears to be more V-type than teroidal. The set with a tire on and both axles in appears to weight 4.2lbs weighed on a crappy scale. Thanks for asking! |

Cobb designed the wheels.They are a flat shape with a blunted trailing edge. The trailing edge helps with handling like the zipp fc wheels but the thinner design helps lower the pressure when passing through the fork. Also while zipp uses dimples to create a boundry layer, cobb used a flat surface for air reattachment and less pulling of air along the rotation of the wheel. Interestingly the theories in these wheels are incorporated by zipp and easton after blackwell research folded. |
