Toronto roll call.  Who's going?

I'll be there doing the try a tri.. was thinking about doing the triathlon, but my running just isn't quite there yet (its a 7 or 7.5km..ouch)  So going for the shorter distance.. should be a blast!

I'll be there doing the try-a-tri as well. Wouldn't mind doing the longer distance but the swim...oh the swim. I'm dreading the 400m for the try-a-tri never mind the longer distance

Keep an eye for the guy coming out of the water last. I'll be wearing a Team Javelin tri top/shorts so if you spot me come by and say hi!

That sounds like you'll be passing at some point on the bike or run then   Swimming is my strength.  Biking and running, not so much.

Unfortunately I'm already over committing myself like crazy! So tempted though I might be the new IM goal in the back my head is going to have me decline.

Good luck though! I'll watch for the race reports.

Just thought I'd let you guys know that all but two beaches are closed due to bacteria levels. No suprises on race day! Have fun, patiently waiting for those race reports.

Thanks for the update Jordan, but I think we are going to be ok.  The water quality was measured at 10 parts per million E.coli on July 10th and the provincial standards deem over 100 parts per million to be unsafe  Which is great news for me, I really would not be very excited about doing a du in 31 degree temps.

Hmmm. Just checked the status and it reads 330 E.Coli bacteria per 100mL of water at Cherry beach. This is based on Wednesday's water sampling. Yesterday's sample will be posted to the web site (http://www.torontobeach.ca/beaches/beach.jsp?id=8) after 2:00PM today. Today's sample will be posted on Saturday after 2:00PM. I guess we'll have to wait and see...

oh crap.. literally.  Hmmm this is very dissapointing.  I just checked using the link and its up to 407.  I don't think we will be swimming.

Here are our options (I got the info from the race website)

If the water quality is tested above the Provincial Standards of more than 100 EC per 100 millilitres of water you will have two options:

1) While we will recommend that you do not swim, you can choose to race in the triathlon for that day. If you do choose to stay in the Triathlon you will be swimming at your own risk. OR

2) You can choose to compete in a Duathlon on that day (the bike and run distance will be the same as that day's Triathlon with a proper first run added).

If it becomes necessary to cancel the swim entirely because of poor water quality you will be able to switch to the Duathlon and there will be a $5.00 credit granted towards your next MultiSport Canada race

I'm not feeling too good about this.  And what do they mean by a "proper" first run added?

p.s. I don't like/am not good at running

really?  You think they'll make it that short?  Not even keep the last run as a 2.5km?  We shall see.  I was thinking that they would do a 2.5km and a 5km.

Yeah I was a bit hesitant in signing up, but this is the only one that I can do until September, so I thought I'd risk it.  Kinda dissapointing.  I might have to search out something in Aug. and rearrage my schedule a bit.

Yeah, I'm pretty disapointed myself

I was REALLY looking forward to doing another tri. Rats! I think I'm going to do the duathlon but really heart just isn't in it as if it would be a tri. Sigh...

Bring your swim gear, its gonna be a tri!!!  I just checked the race web site and apparently the E.coli count from Friday is below 100ppm.  The higher levels this week were due to the thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. They are optimistic that the levels will be good for Sunday.
