![]() | ![]() I just received a message saying that Denver Triathlon has been postponed until Sept. 22 from June 9. They state it's due to, "Circumstances beyond our control." I have no idea what this means, but hopefully they'll be a bit more transparent. Seems like they would have had circumstances figured out before taking people's money. I feel especially bad for anyone travelling from out of town. I've been training since December for this, and now not sure what to do. Lame lame lame! |

I'm right there with ya andrew. I did it last year & was looking forward to the new course this year. Now I need to find another Olympic distance tri close to that same date. (Loveland Lake to Lake possibly??) Any other ideas for an Olympic distance early-mid June, that's not too far from the Denver area? |

![]() | ![]() There's the Tri Boulder on June 23, anyone know anything about it? Looks like a first year event which sort of makes me nervous. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It sucks that they've rescheduled, especially to a date that is so far from the original. A couple of years back they had the same issue with the Boulder Sunset, but the date was only changed by a couple of weeks. They are working with the Greeley Triathlon which is a much shorter course, but very well organized. The majority of it takes place in a business park which means that much of the course is closed to vehicular traffic. The Greeley PD is heavily invested in this race which means a ton of support and a lot of effort put into ensuring athlete safety. Loveland Lake to Lake is a couple of weeks later and is another great event. They had a few hiccups last year due to the forest fires (shortened bike course (but still awesome) and some confusion around the run), but in the end it is a great event and also an amazing venue. I've posted a couple of links to my race reports from last year for each of these if you want a little more in the way of details. Best wishes to those that were participating in Denver. Hope that you are able to find something to work your schedule. |

![]() | ![]() I would definitely recommend Loveland Lake to Lake. Always a great race, and good food afterwards. I'd stay away from Tri Boulder. My ex did two races put on by those guys and they were both a mess. She said never again. |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was glad to see this thread turn into a praise for other June raises for athletes to race. I thought I would give a more detailed explanation for the move here for everyone. I had to postpone this race as we almost had more police officers working than we had registrants. After a wonderfully reviewed race last year we have seen a major drop in registration to the point that it was cancel or postpone. We had to chose one or the other and while it isn't fun for anyone we didn't want to cancel. On top of that the city was glad to accommodate us as June is overly crowded and September isn't. I understand the disappointment from athletes, especially those training for 70.3 or longer. just know this wasn't a decision that was made lightly. September 22 was specifically chosen as there is a Monday night football game that week so no broncos home game to contend with. We didn't have it any closer to June due to other races on the calendar and then as we get into august Sloan's lake gets too warm, mid 80's, to be good for swimming. I was actually pretty sad the only choice we had was the same day as the Oktoberfest tri as that is a great event as well. |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() You'll have fun! It's a bit different planning your day around an evening tri but it does leave the weekend open for other stuff. See you there! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Interesting- I was thinking of doing a OLY this season and have to say the new dates actually sound pretty good to me! There tend to be a lot in spring around here but not as many later in the season. |
