Subject: First Triathlon - Great experience! I completed my first triathlon, on Sunday, June 27th, the Wendy's International Triathlon. It was held outside of Columbus, Ohio at Alum Creek State Park. It was a beautiful day and was everything I hoped it would be. Great course, lots of enthusiastic, driven participants and perfect weather. I want to thank Ron for this site. I don't post much, but I religiously use the training log, and have gotten a lot of good training info off the site. I posted my race results and I going to try and download some pics. The race was a sprint distance course, 1/2 mile swim, 18 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run. I completed the race in 1:41:56. My transistion times were a little slow and I could have pushed myself harder on the bike, but overall I am very pleased with my effort. I was 21st out of 41 men in the 30-34 age group and was 204th out of 600 participants overall. I have definately been bitten by the Triathlon bug and can't wait for my next race which is only a little longer than three weeks away. It is the Sky Bank Triathlon in Cleveland, Ohio. I am going to compete in the Olympic distance race. I am hoping to do the race in under three hours. |
