Subject: USA Elite Triathlon Academy

USAT's Elite Triathlon Academy (info) was formed a couple years ago and has, although not by much, expanded.

I was wondering if anyone knew how these athletes get selected or apply to join the program.  There's no info that I've found out there about applying or possibly joining.

Is it just a matter of getting your name out there by placing highly in top races, then getting a personal invite from someone there?  Do you have to know someone within the program to even be considered?

Any info about getting in is much appreciated. Thanks.

The kids who are there all came up in the Jr. Elite Series and were members of High Performance youth Teams.  If you go to USAT website you can see a list of HPT' can contact any of them.  Also, you could contact USAT directly and see if you can get an e-mail for Steve Kelly....he runs the Jr. Elite series.

You'll have to have a strong race resume for sure.  If you are interested in that pathway you should be trying your hand in the Jr. Elite draft legal series..... the fastest kids in the country.

I have a Specialized Allez Elite road bike with aero bars. It has the stock seatpost. I am interested in changing the seat post to one that is more forward. What would I look for?

The folks at RSS weren’t happy with the 4.75, so they updated the backpack and sent me a new one. They have continued engineering this already fantastic bag to make it even better.

The Elite wetsuit was redesigned four times before going to the market in order to maximize its benefits. Does all this speed come at the expense of comfort? I had to find out.

Can the USAT serve its 50,000+ members largely made up of weekend warriors in search of age-group hardware, while catering to the small percent of elite or pro athletes?
