Yes but were you still racing at the time?

I know Haley has imbibed on half-marathon courses, just as serious in her competition as the golfers in the previous post. She's certainly not alone, I've seen participants drink and smoke on many race courses. Where there's a will (and/or a habit), there's a way.

Yes.
How about this race:

Honey, I could post many many examples of me people drinking while racing.

I have seen a participant at a 5k smoking a cigarette. Gross if you ask me. However some might have thought the same thing when I finished my iron distance tri with a beer as well.

Its kind of my thing to finish races either with a drink or having one or two....along the way.

vonrunner - 2006-07-24 9:39 AM instead of comparing cycling to golf, i'd compare just about any sport to nascar. i was watching the news last night, and highlights of Tiger's win were followed up by nascar results, so in my mind, i said Tiger = athlete...nascar drivers=not i have a hard time believing those drivers are athletes; a couple of my friends have fallen prey to believing they are, and i'm just not ready to jump on that wagon.

CAREFUL NOW!!    :-)

Is golf an athletic activity? Well, maybe the way some do it, but I am skeptical about the REQUIRED athleticism of a game that people can play while drinking a beer and smoking a cigar.

Funny. Jim Rome said the EXACT same thing (word for word) about bowling.

i ran a marathon last year with a guy who loves anything that features beer, and every time we passed a free beer stand along the way, he'd yell "Beer me!"

i think he might seek out races that feature beer on the course or at the end. it's better than being handed another cotton t-shirt that's too big.
