  • 01m 28s / 100 meters
Comments:

Started 2 mins late! By my watch, we still had 5 mins to go so we werent in much a hurry, all of the sudden, horn goes off and......Holy Crap! Hurry Hurry!!!
What would you do differently?:

Leave home earlier~
Transition 1
  • 03m 16s
Comments:

Tried to just stay calm, walk quickly to bike and do what I always do.
What would you do differently?:

Not much
Bike
  • 1h 33m 59s
  • 40 kms
  • 25.65 km/hr
Comments:

This was my longest ride of the year! Long work hours and NO training made me re evaluate my effort. I tried to ride as easy as I could. I had injurted my back earlier in the week and wasn't even sure I could ride but it went pretty well. Not in a hurry and had a good ride.
What would you do differently?:

Train more
Transition 2
  • 01m 49s
Comments:

Bike catchers rock!! A nice young man took my bike and a nice young woman handed me my run bag and took it away when I was done. All I had to do was get stuff off and on and I was done.
What would you do differently?:

not much
Run
  • 1h 13m 28s
  • 10 kms
  • 07m 19s  min/km
Comments:

I knew this was going to be tough and slow going. Long work hours and not enough sleep had me really tired going in. I just ran and far as I could, about a mile and did run/walk after that. At the end, I was walking 100 steps and running 200. Pretty much had nothing left at the end. My favorite training partner and nice sister brought me a bottle of cold water about 1/2 mi from finish, sorely needed.
What would you do differently?:

Get some rest before the race!
Post race
Warm down:

walk around and drink some water

What limited your ability to perform faster:

not enough training, back injury

Event comments:

I really like this race. Downstream swim makes me feel fast. Bike course is just hard enough and run is always hot. Entry is really inexpensive and volunteers are great. This year, the traffic control was great and I didn't get lost for the first time!
They did run out of water, I think I got the last bottle when finished but they found some more fairly quickly. Post race activities are pretty non existent but the price is right. I'm planning to go back next year!!

It was awesome to meet you and Colleen today. I have read both of your race reports of this race from a few years ago and that is why I did this race last year as my first olympic distance tri. To see you guys there today was just great. I hope to see you guys at future races.

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"

All you have to do is say you’re a triathlete and you intimidate the whole world. No matter how much you bench press or what you lift or how many squats you can do.
