  • 750 meters
  • 01m 49s / 100 meters
Comments:

The swim went well until after the second to last buoy. I was swimming toward the last buoy and had a good line, but I noticed a bunch of people to my left, and I was afraid I had missed a buoy. I stopped and treaded water, and got my bearings, and I was going the correct way, the other people were just way off course. I should have just trusted myself, and not stopped.

I think the swim must have been longer than 750 meters too, or otherwise that was a pretty slow pace.
Transition 1

Bike
  • 45m 31s

  • 21.09 mile/hr
Comments:

The roads were wet, so I took some of the corners a little bit slower, but not too much. Thankfully I had ridden in the rain twice last week, so I had good practice in wet conditions.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

I had a dumb brain fart. I stood there and put my race belt on before putting on my running shoes. Normally I put on the running shoes, and then grab the race belt and put it on while running. My time should have been under a minute.
Run
  • 21m 5s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 13s  min/km
Comments:

At the beginning of the run, I had little gravels in my shoes that had been stuck to my feet, but thankfully they seemed to shift position after the first quarter mile or so, and didn't bother me after that.

They had plenty of drink stations, but I didn't stop at any. Seemed like kind of a waste of time on such a short race.

Mile splits:
1. 7:16
2. 6:43
3. 6:19
Post race
Event comments:

Very good race. Well organized, and lots of volunteers. The weather kind of put a damper on the atmosphere, but it was still fun.

At mile ten I heard a noise like I had gotten paper in my spokes or something. I looked but saw nothing but a few seconds later my rear tire blows out.

Are these races too close together to give me any sort of recovery? Will I be spent and unhappy racing back to back weekends and then again two weeks after that?

When I told my husband that I planned to work toward completing a sprint triathlon, he smiled and was supportive, but a bit disbelieving.

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

This plan is designed to make you go faster. 3 workouts per week in each sport, 2 days of strength training and core work. The maximum volume is around 10 hours toward the end of the 12 weeks.

Since your “A” race is your marathon, which you stated in your question, this should be your main focus. I encourage you to taper a bit for the sprint distance triathlon.

Since I didn't have much time and since it's a super sprint, am I OK just go to at the training relatively hard through Thursday or even Friday?
