Pre-race routine:

Nice parking, change room/shower onsite. Got setup late, made room on the rack.
Swim
  • 14m 1s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 48s / 100 meters
Comments:

Water was warmer than the air. They spread out the waves more than necessary for a small race.
Transition 1
  • 02m 32s
Comments:

Shed the wetsuit in the grass right off the beach. Threw on a bike jacket.
What would you do differently?:

Slow. Felt slow at the time, can't put my finger on it.
Bike
  • 31m 15s
  • 11 miles
  • 21.12 mile/hr
Comments:

Had it been dry I think I could have had a pb for mph.
What would you do differently?:

Transition 2

Comments:

Fast ride carried over.
What would you do differently?:

N/A
Run
  • 30m 14s
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 03s  min/km
Comments:

Started slow but kept sight of a small pack that passed me in the first 1/2 mile. Picked them off and sprinted to the finish. Good way to end the season.
What would you do differently?:

N/A Gave it everything I had. Time sucked but effort was good.
Post race
Warm down:

Wait, wait, wait for race results. It took 3D 1.5 hours to post group results. I wish I was making this up but I hung on thinking I may been on the AG podium.

Event comments:

Props to 3D for giving out some good swag post-race.

And the bad-> they started breaking down the corral & everything else before the race was over + no security on the corral (I rode out without passing any 3D employee or volunteer).

When I told my husband that I planned to work toward completing a sprint triathlon, he smiled and was supportive, but a bit disbelieving.

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

I was passing others who were saying, "Good job, 587" (that was my race number). People were cheering me on. These were the nicest people I have ever been around!

It’s a challenge to push yourself a little harder and a little further. Be proud of every workout that is accomplished and every step-even the baby ones-that you take on this course to the finishline.
