I do my first Tri in 2 days (London - sprint distance). I have totally unprepared and am only going through with it to learn lessons and to make money for a charity. Also there is a love that I have for the sport of Triathlon and the fact that I have always wanted to do this as a sport.

I was wondering if there is anyone out there who would like to do the Windsor Triathlon 2007. Someone who is simalar to myself and that we can use to motivate each other keep up our training by actually having a bit of friendly competition come race day in 10 months time.

Windsor will be my second Tri and I am going to go for the full Olympic distance. I am currently about 205 pounds, 25 years of age and wondered if there was anyone out there, under simalar circumstances that wants to do this.

Please get back to me. I need the help to keep me motivated over the winter months

David,

I don't fit your criteria for a challenge but just wanted to wish you good luck for this weekend.

You've probably already thought of this but I'd recommend putting a can of Coke in T1 -London dock water isn't the nicest taste.  A strong mint would probably be as effective but won't have the bug-killing properties Coke is reputed to have.

Enjoy the race.

I really enjoyed the Triathlon and am really looking forward to doing another after a full winters training. Since the London Tri I have been busy training and have managed to lose a few pounds. I know its not much but its a start.

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to my post

Where abouts are you based?

I live in London I've just started doing various bits and pieces of training with a view to doing my first triathlon next year. I have no experience in any of the disciplines but have been getting going with my running and swimming recently. I am doing the Nike 10k run in a months time so have started running for the first time in my life.

I wasn't sure which race to enter but the Windsor Triathlon could be ideal for me. I like the idea of having someone with the same goal as me who can motivate each other.

What sort of training schedule do you do?

I think I might fit the criteria!  I went to watch the London event after a year or so of aimlessly going to the gym to lose weight - the odd 5k run on treadmill (about 28 minutes!) and a couple of spin classes per week.

I've decided to do the Windsor Tri next year but London being my target A race.  I'm definately up for some friendly competition and advice.

I work in London (Cannon st) and use Cannons gym or run down embankment.

Let me know..

Hey Cando - just been checking out your training logs -  you've been doing really well.

Looks like we are both doing our first event on the same day - I'm doing the Nike 10k - little worried about it as haven't done as much running as I would have liked but if I can get round close to an hour I'll be pleased.

I'm based in Canary Wharf - not far from you. We should definitely keep in touch and keep each other motivated in our training. One thing we'll have to disagree on though is football teams - I'm an Arsenal fan!

Have a great day

Hannah
