Is there anywhere in central London to swim? I'm staying near Hyde park for a couple of days and plan on running there. Thanks!

I'll be in London in the beginning of June. Will also be in the Hyde Park area. I was planning on running the 2012 Olympic triathlon running route (4 laps around the Serpentine) and was considering swimming the lake with the SSC. I just wonder if you have to be a member of the Serpentine Swimming Club and, if so, whether I can become a member as an outsider.

For anyone looking for a good place to swim in London, the Royal Docks in Canary Wharf are great. The staff are really good, you can rent wetsuits if you need to, distances are marked out, and there's no need for an induction. Also, I've been a number of times and haven't got an intestinal disease once.
