  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim went great, probably the best of my three events on Sat.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Transition went fine
Bike
  • 41m 22s
  • 15 miles
  • 21.76 mile/hr
Transition 2
  • 00m 54s
Comments:

Transition went fine
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 21m 50s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Just as with the bike, legs felt tired. Should be running well under 7-min pace. I've had trouble with rib and shoulder stitches in my first two tris during the run. (I adjusted my fluid intake for my race on Sunday, drinking less before the race, and had no stitch).
What would you do differently?:

I'll be taking in less fluid before the race
Post race
Warm down:

Just strolled around the party, eating grapes, bananas. Got a neck and back adjustment (felt GREAT!) from an on-site chiropractor.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

A feeling of fatigue and probably too much in the way of fluids

Event comments:

Really feel like I should be in the top 3 in my age group in every race, so from that aspect I was a little disappointed. The winner in my AG is a 20 year veteran with a national ranking (38th) so I have my work cut out for me to beat him. Also kind of a bad taste for the day after my wife, driving my car (I had hers) was involved in a car accident leaving the race. No injuires, but probably $4,000 damage between the two cars! OUCH!

Absolutely great race Kevin. Undoubtedly you will be seriously in contention in your age group. Hope Sunday went well too. Sorry about the accident - I wondered - we thought we saw you in that accident area - but looked like you were all akoy?

Congratulations again - we will be looking for you in the award ceremonies as time goes on. I am especially envious of your swim - still having a hard time with that, but back in the pool today.

That was a great race. Good job. I know what you mean though about feeling not-quite-right through the bike and run, especially the run. I wondered if it was the humidity, but I also think you're right about changing hydration patterns.
