Pre-race routine:

Got to the race early and took a little 1/2 mile run. Stretched, and took my time getting into my wetsuit to swim a little bit. Not much warm-up.

Comments:

Swam pretty good. At one point someone on the long course got off course came over and slammed into me. Drank some water got my bearings and kept on swimming. This was a good time for me. Never felt like I got a great feel for my stroke, but was consistent throughout.
What would you do differently?:

I never saw the collision coming as I breath to my right and we were swimming counter clockwise loops. Maybe try to sight better to avoid the collision next time.
Transition 2

Comments:

Took my time in transition as this race is more about fun than time.

Comments:

Ran o.k. My calves and hamstrings tightened up during the first mile. I have a real big problem going from swimming to running. Maybe I should practice this. My legs loosened up after the first 1/2 of the run, but I couldn't generate any power. The loose gravel forces you to lose power when running. I really hate this course. :)
What would you do differently?:

I kept trading places with Chris, and when he finally passed me at about mile 2, I couldn't close the gap. Normally I can run in the 25s, but off the swim I just can't seem to muster the power. I'll do some swim run bricks before the next event.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around, had some water and gatorade, and stretched a little.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough practice going from swim to run. Biking seems to be my chance to flush out the legs. Maybe I should kick more on my way in. I tried this a little bit, but my kick sucks and I get into oxygen debt quickly.

Event comments:

I really like this race, and we must have had about 10-12 BTrs there. It was great to see everyone.
