Pre-race routine:

Comments:

Had to clip in at the start line. Had an issue....had to flip the pedal a few times...really frustrating having the clock tick away and I can't get up to speed. HR climbed to 165 at the 3 minute mark, which is absolute max for me. Settled down after that. HR Ave - 144 - pretty much right on goal. Decided to spin a bit more and see if the higher gears would help my time. It didn't. The strong headwind and uphill portion killed me, averaging just under 21 mph for about a mile.
Average Power - 265. I had a 3 mile section on the first lap where my power only averaged 170. I'm not sure if there was an issue, but that seems low for any section of a TT. That same section on the 2nd lap was 230 with a tailwind.

I raced as a Cat 4...no AG. Saw 3 riders in front of me at results table with 3 riders yet to finish. So my best would be 4th. Took off after my friend finished. He raced as a Cat 5 and took 2nd.
What would you do differently?:

One gear lower all the way around. Not sure if I could have held that however.
Post race
Warm down:

6 or so miles back to start line

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mile 3-5 showed low power....no idea why.

Event comments:

Results were on a small tablet everyone was huddling around. I say it all the time, these guys can ride fast compared to triathletes. I saw only 2 people that compete in other endurance races, otherwise these guys are on their bikes every day. Not sure if I can get to the 26 mph mark. I'll be very satisfied if I can ever hit that.
