Swim
Comments: The T1 time is factored into the swim which killed me. I had been told horror stories about the start of the swim for a rookie like myself so I was prepared for the worst. I was confident that I could hold my own in the speed category so I tried to get in from of the pack. It seemed to work. I had only a few hands to my head. Navication in the murky water was the biggest problem but turned out to be OK. What would you do differently?: I left the water feeling very energetic and not fatigued at all. I think I could swim harder next time Transition 1
Comments: I am not sure what the problem was here but it screwed my swim time that would have been good. The lack of time to set up my transition area in a logical way took its tole here. Shoes went on slow, jersey was not unzipped enough to get my head in it. Little things I will remember next time really wasted time. To top it all off, I had real trouble getting clipped into my pedals. What would you do differently?: Take more time setting up transition! Bike
Comments: THe bike was great. I only got passed by 2 people and wad able to pass many. I was able to keep pretty much a constant pace and stayed in my aero bars the whole race. I was pretty happy with the bike. I was able to drink 2 bottles of water while I rode in prep for the Hot and humid run. What would you do differently?: I think I could maintain a little faster pace next time on that distance Transition 2
Comments: This transition went much faster. Changed shoes and shirt. What would you do differently?: everything just a little faster. Run
Comments: I didn't get that Jelly leg feeling as much as I thought I would. I wore my HRM and it told me I was working pretty hard but I felt slow. Must have been the heat. I could improve this time by a minute or so in cool weather...maybe. What would you do differently?: Not sure what I could to technically. I just neeed to run faster. Post race
Warm down: walked to finish like to watch finishers What limited your ability to perform faster: HEAT Event comments: It was my first triathalon and I had a great time. I think I trainied for longer distance than this race wand and it paid off. Now...On to olympic distance next month! Last updated: 2004-06-24 12:00 AM
