Pre-race routine:

none

low on time, so quick 5 min run and 5 min swim
Swim
  • 28m 51s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

not sure what my deal was. Got off to a nice start, then fizzled quickly my breathing. Just felt like a couldn't get a full breath and spent too much time on my back and breast stroke. After the turnaround, things started to improve and I was able to find a nice rhythm
What would you do differently?:

need to train more in open water
Transition 1
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

big transition area, decided to wear socks. Kind of slow, but not awful.
What would you do differently?:

do it faster
Bike
  • 1h 15m 22s
  • 26.4 miles
  • 21.02 mile/hr
Comments:

felt strong on the bike. fast course. At mile 20, I had a spoke pop off my front tire, and that slowed my down a little down the stretch.
What would you do differently?:

much more training with long rides and hills
Transition 2
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

did fine. lost some time tying my shoes. No quick laces
What would you do differently?:

get speed laces, and save 20 sec....
Run
  • 48m 48s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 07m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

My first tri with a HRM. After the strap kept popping off for the first 1.5 miles, I finally took it off and stuffed it in my pocket. Felt like I was running faster than my pace
What would you do differently?:

I keep telling myself I need brick training and never do it... I really need to start.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

overall fitness and front tire.

Event comments:

very organized and well run race.

It’s a challenge to push yourself a little harder and a little further. Be proud of every workout that is accomplished and every step-even the baby ones-that you take on this course to the finishline.
